Driving

This morning, after Tilly and I slept in all the way to 6am  and went through our morning routine, we loaded into the big truck and drove half an hour to Paradise Found Fiber Farm to help Mary with the farm chores after recently losing her husband (Tilly had to stay in the truck). After an hour of shoveling manure, feeding alpacas, llamas, and chickens, and rubbing goat heads, we jumped back in the truck and drove another half hour home, switched to the car, added Tim, disassembled the crate, and took off for the Sea-Tac airport. 2 hours later, we had our friends from Juneau, Mike and Holly, and headed home again to show off our new digs.

First stop on the tour was, of course, the downstairs construction zone where the electrician, insulators, sheetrockers, and painters have been busy at work. We still should probably avoid running the metal late at 2 am, but hopefully a little mid-day woodworking won't disrupt Grandpa's stock reports too much now that there's some insulation between the floors.

Also, my kitchen no longer has such awful lighting! The drop-down ceiling has been filled in with more normal light fixtures and the extra long florescent tubes have found a new home in the shop. Pretty soon we will be ready for a trip to Home Depot to pick up all sorts of light fixtures for upstairs and down, as well as a fridge for downstairs and possibly a new kitchen faucet for upstairs.

After checking out the house, we all headed down to the beach for some time in the sun watching Tilly try to eat things she probably shouldn't.

Holly helped me make some great progress on my jigsaw puzzle while Tim showed off the G-forces of our truck, then we all piled back in the little car and headed for downtown Seattle to return our couple friends to their hotel. I badly underestimated evening downtown Seattle traffic, plus couldn't map around construction zones, so after a few circles around the block and little heading south, we found our way back to I-5 North and got home in time to lay on the couch watching Star Trek and refusing to let Tilly go to bed until late.
